Privacy policy

This privacy notice explains how personal data is processed when you visit rio-samba.com, contact Christoph (Chris) Quade Couto, or choose to load the optional YouTube video lessons. The website is otherwise a static website without analytics or marketing tracking.

2. Hosting and technical access logs

This website is hosted in Germany by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. The provider processes connection data needed to transmit pages and keep the service available and secure, which may include the IP address, requested resource, timestamp and technical information about the browser and connection. The hosting provider and its subprocessor operate the web hosting in Germany under an agreement on commissioned data processing (Article 28 GDPR).

In our ALL-INKL customer settings under “Logs & Statistiken”, the option “Es werden keine Logs erzeugt” (no log files generated) is enabled. We therefore do not use the optional customer access logs or visitor statistics generated by that setting. This does not exclude technically necessary short-term connection processing or separate security-related processing by the hosting provider. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional website).

3. Contact by email, phone or WhatsApp

If you contact me about a workshop, I process the details you share, such as your name, contact information, band name, message and event preferences, to answer the enquiry and prepare or perform a possible contract. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for pre-contractual or contractual communication and, where applicable, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for other correspondence. I retain such communications only for as long as needed to handle the enquiry, our business relationship and applicable legal record-keeping requirements. You may always contact me by email instead of WhatsApp.

The “Contact via WhatsApp” button is an ordinary external link to the WhatsApp chat service operated in the European region by WhatsApp Ireland Limited. The website does not load WhatsApp widgets or send data to WhatsApp merely because you visit this page. If you choose the link, your browser opens WhatsApp and that provider can process connection details and information you share there, under its own privacy policy. WhatsApp may process data outside the EEA under its applicable transfer mechanisms. Please avoid sending sensitive information by this channel. You can read WhatsApp's privacy policy.

4. Optional YouTube lessons

This website offers the YouTube playlist “Authentic Samba Percussion”, containing detailed video lessons for individual samba instruments. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, with possible involvement of Google LLC in the United States. The embedded player uses the youtube-nocookie.com domain. Loading it may send your IP address, device and browser information, the origin of the website and usage data to Google; cookies or similar technologies may be used. Data may be processed outside the EU/EEA.

YouTube is not loaded when this page opens. Only clicking the “Load YouTube lessons” button in the video area creates the external player. The video area explains this data transfer beforehand. You may simply leave the player unloaded and still use the rest of the website. After loading, you can remove the player using “Unload YouTube player”; refreshing the page also removes it. This stops new embedding requests from this page, but does not automatically remove cookies that Google may have set. You can manage those in your browser.

5. Consent choice and storage

This website does not store or remember your choice about YouTube in cookies or local storage. The embedded player is blocked again on every new visit or page reload. Other than functionality that the browser needs to display this website, this site does not intentionally set its own tracking cookies or similar storage.

6. Other external content, fonts and statistics

Site images, fonts, styles and scripts are delivered locally by our hosting server. At the time of this notice, this website does not intentionally use Google Analytics, external Google Fonts, marketing pixels or social-media tracking widgets. Links to third-party sites, such as YouTube and our musician biography, are ordinary links; visiting them is governed by the third party's own policies.

7. Data recipients and international transfers

Our web hosting provider and any providers used for business communication may process data on our behalf or as independent controllers as applicable. YouTube data is only sent to Google after the user opts in, as described above. Depending on provider and circumstances, transfer to countries outside the EU/EEA may take place and will be subject to the safeguards or adequacy frameworks applicable to that transfer.

8. Your rights

Subject to legal conditions, you have the right to obtain information about your personal data (Article 15 GDPR), to correct inaccurate data (Article 16), to request erasure (Article 17), to restrict processing (Article 18), to data portability (Article 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Article 7(3)).

You can contact us at chris@quadecouto.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority for North Rhine-Westphalia is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW).

9. Changes to this notice

We will update this notice if the way this website processes personal data changes.
